About this Item
An important botanical work, with illustrations by Auriol Batten, Rosemary Holcroft & others. A fine copy in a fine DJ, jacket now with a brodart cover for protection. Publisher's Synopis: "The Stapelieae comprise a vast complex of forms, colours and specialized floral structures. Ceropegias and Brachystelmas are fore-runners of the Stapelieae in the tree of plant evolution and one detects numerous similarities between the groups concerned. The variety of form is so great that the reader may be inclined to say that seeing is believing. The present book is a valuable contribution to botanical science. It abounds in original observations which lead the reader to accounts of both ancient and modern discoveries. The author states that his object has been to present the information largely in a pictorial manner with the emphasis on illustrations, balck and white and in colour. Nearly all species are illustrated, thus with the text and keys it should be possible to identify species with confidence. The author has enlisted the assistance of collleagues and other workers who have wide field experince and have given generously of their knowledge. Auriol Batten has contributed a number of beautifully executed paintings which give distinction to the volume at first sight." ; 242 pages. Seller Inventory # 9914

More InformationWe make exclusive use of tracked courier services for the safety of the items and for the reliability of deliveries. Therefore we require a physical address and can not deliver to PO Boxes.
Please note: For our economy shipments we use a consolidated tracked shipping service which greatly reduces the cost of shipping. Books are picked up every Tuesday and fly out the following Thursday. Due to only flying out once a week wait times can be up to 20 days with this option.
PLEASE NOTE: Our Abebooks profile is listed via my Australian Business. However the book store is not based in Melbourne. We are based in Cape Town, South Africa. This is due to payment issues on Abebooks side for South African banks. This was a solution Abebooks and we came up with together to bypass the Payment gateway issue for right now. All our other selling platforms correctly displays our place of origin as Cape Town, South Africa. Shipment takes place from Cape Town South Africa.
