Role Of Moringa Oleifera Leaf Extract In Increasing Hemoglobin Levels In Pregnant Rats With Anemia2021 •
Anemia is one of the epidemic health problems in society and the most common nutritional problem. The Moringa oleifera is rich in excellent dietary content and can complement the body's needs. This study aims to determine Moringa oilefera leaf extract's effectiveness in increasing hemoglobin levels in pregnant rats (Ratus norvegicus) with anemia. This paper used a true experimental research design with a pre-post test randomized control group design. This study utilized female rats (Ratus norvegicus), pregnant 8-12 weeks, weighing 200 grams. Experimental procedures were four treatments with three repetitions. Types of treatment were negative control and positive control (administration of Moringa oilefera leaf extract) at a dose of 0.18 g / head, 0.36 g / head, and 0.72 g/head. Analysis using one way ANOVA with an error rate of 0.05. The results showed p<0.005, which means a significant increase in hemoglobin levels in the group given the treatment of moringa leaf extract...

The Effect of Giving Edible Amaranth Extract (Amaranthus tricolor) and Moringa Leaves (Moringa oleifera) Extract on Experimental Pregnant Mice towards Hemoglobin LevelPregnant woman needs adequate nutrition to maintain maternal health, fetal development, and preparation for lactation. Inadequate nutrition is one of the causes of anemia in pregnant woman. Anemia in pregnant women in Indonesia is mainly caused by iron deficiency. Pregnant woman with anemia can be at risk of giving birth to low birth weight (LBW). One of the forms of fortification for iron needs can be done by consuming green vegetable including edible amaranth (Amaranthus tricolor) and moringa leaves (Moringa Oleifera). This study aimed to determine the effect of giving edible amaranth and moringa leaves extract in experimental pregnant mice on hemoglobin level and birth weight. This was an experimental research with posttest only control group design on 15 pregnant mice divided into 3 groups (group 1: control, group 2: treatment with edible amaranth extract, group 3: treatment with moringa leaves extract at a dose of 396 mg/200 g of body weight for 17 days. The research was carried out in the Natural Material Chemistry Laboratory of the Faculty of Pharmaceutical, the animal house of the Biomedical Laboratory and the Biochemistry Laboratory of the Faculty of Medicine, University of Andalas. Statistical test with one way ANOVA, the significance is determined if p<0,05. The results showed that the mean of hemoglobin level (g/dL) in the control group: 8,98±0,41, treatment 1: 11,57±0,42, and treatment 2: 12,14±0,43. The mean of birth weight (g) in the control group: 2,99±0,04, treatment 1: 3,09±0,32, and treatment 2: 2,91±0,65. There was an effect of giving edible amaranth and moringa leaves extract in experimental pregnant mice on hemoglobin level with a value of p=0,00 (p<0,05) and there was no effect on birth weight (p=0,794). The conclusion of this study is that there is an effect of giving edible amaranth and moringa leaves extract on hemoglobin level and there is no effect of edible amaranth extract and moringa leaves on birth weight.

Annona senegalensis (Leaves), Newbouldia laevis (Leaves), Cassytha filiformis (aerial part), Cissampelos mucronata (aerial part) are four species of medicinal plants commonly sold by herbalists in South Benin for treatment of bleeding. Hemostatic tests performed in vitro on hydro alcoholic extracts of these plants revealed that all of them have coagulant properties, with a percentage reduction of plasma re-calcification time which is 31% for C. filiformis and 39% for A. senegalensis. The action of these plant extracts is different from that of the classical pathway of blood coagulation. A. senegalensis extract also showed an astringent power. The phytochemical study of these plants revealed that: C. mucronata contains alkaloids and tannins; A. senegalensis contains tannins, mucilages and reducing compounds; C. filiformis contains alkaloids, tannins (gallic tannins and cathetics) and mucilage; N. leavis contains tannins, triterpenoids, mucilages and reducing compounds. The traditional use of plants as hemostatic is convicted with these results.

Antihaemolytic activity of thirty herbal extracts in mouse red blood cells2014 •
Reactive oxygen species (ROS) can lead to haemolysis and eventually to diseases such as thalassemia and sickle cell anaemia. Their action can be counteracted by the antihaemolytic activity of therapeutic agents. The aim of our study was to identify plants that most efficiently counteract ROS-caused haemolysis. From ten plants known for their antioxidant activity (Orobanche orientalis G. Beck, Cucumis melo L., Albizzia julibrissin Durazz, Galium verum L., Scutellaria tournefortii Benth, Crocus caspius Fischer & Meyer, Sambucus ebulus L., Danae racemosa L., Rubus fruticsos L., and Artemisia absinthium L.) we prepared 30 extracts using three extraction methods (percolation, Soxhlet, and ultrasound-assisted extraction) to see whether the extraction method affects antihaemolytic efficiency, and one extraction method (polyphenol extraction) to see how much of this action is phenol-related. Extract antihaemolytic activity was determined in mice red blood cells and compared to that of vitam...

The Effect of Moringa Oleifera on Hemoglobin Level in Pregnancy2021 •
Anemia is a form of the body's compensation mechanism for decreasing hemoglobin levels. Anemia in pregnancy is a condition in which hemoglobin is below normal, which is below 11 g/dl. The most common cause of anemia in pregnancy is iron deficiency. Moringa leaves are one type of food that is rich in iron which can overcome anemia. The purpose of the study was to determine the effect of giving Moringa leaf soup on hemoglobin levels of pregnant women in the third trimester at the Oepoi Health Center, Kupang City in 2021. Quasy Experimental research design with a two group pre-test and post-test design. The study population was all pregnant women. The sampling technique is purposive sampling. The sample was 32 pregnant women. Statistical test using t-test. The location of this research was carried out at the Oepoi Health Center, Kupang City from July to August 2021. The research instrument was observation sheet and Hb measuring instrument. The results showed that the average hemogl...

The Effect Of Giving Red Guava Juice To Grade of Pregnant Women’s Hemoglobin2019 •
According to the World Health Organization (WHO) in 2014, as many as 41.8% of maternal deaths in developing countries were associated with anemia in pregnancy and most were caused by iron deficiency and acute bleeding, not even the two interacting frequently. Red guava juice can increase hemoglobin levels that can treat anemia. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of giving red guava juice (psidium guajava, linn) to hemoglobin levels. This type of research is quasi-experimental (quasi-experimental) with a non-equivalent pretest-posttest design carried out in the village of Kuok working area PUSKESMAS Kuok on July 26 -1 August 2018. The population in this study were all pregnant women who suffer from anemia with hemoglobin levels of 8-11 gr%. The research sample amounted to 15 respondents using total sampling techniques. Hemoglobin level examination use haemometer digital. The data analysis use T-test.The results of this study obtained mean hemoglobin levels before ad...
