Inselbergs are isolated rock outcrops characterized by large areas of bare rocky slopes. They are regarded as terrestrial habitat island because of their unique ecological characteristics they posses. The study was aimed at conducting a floristic study of vascular plants in Kufena inselberg. The species diversity was studied using the modified Whittaker technique where 3 plots, 25 m x 25m each, were designated along the gradient of the inselberg. Plants were counted and identified and the species diversity indices were calculated. A total of 43 species of vascular plants belonging to 36 genera, distributed in 21 families were recorded. The family Fabaceae had the highest species diversity contributing seven species in total, while Ficus of the family Moraceae was the most diverse genera, with five species. The highest species frequency of 29% was contributed by Senna obtusifolia (L.)H.S.Irwin&Barneby, followed by Urena lobata (L.) (9%), Sida acuta Burm.f.(6.2%), Clerodendrum thomsoniae (5.9%), Waltheria indica (L.) (5.6%) and Bombax costatum Pellegr.&Vuill.(3.6%). The species diversity were recorded H=2.71, and a density of 12500 plants per hectare for plot A. Plot B recorded a total of 32 species from 17 families out of a total 956 plants counter with H=2.80 and a density of 15300 plants per hectare. A total of 1384 plants were counted in Plot C from which 30 species and 15 families were recorded with H=2.22 and 22100 plants per hectare and total plant density was 178, 361 plants per hectare. The study revealed high density and diversity of species of plant species in Kufena inselberg along its gradient.
