Judges: A new translation with commentary2024 •
This translation of Judges is the eighth in my project to translate the Torah and Former Prophets. The book follows a similar approach to my other translations—my emphasis is on what is called “functional equivalence” (that is, expressing the ideas in the text in the most natural way in English), and I organize the text according to the textual divisions found in the Masoretic text (the “open” and “closed” parashot) rather than the traditional Christian chapter divisions. Organizing the text in this way, I believe, gets us closer to the ancient writers, and yields numerous insights into their composition approach. In my introduction, I examine the place of Judges within the books of the Former Prophets and I argue that the original version of the book was composed during the reign of Josiah as part of what I call the “Josianic History.” I also discuss my reasons for abandoning the “Deuteronomistic History” terminology and why I have replaced this with works that I call the Josianic History (written in the 630s and 620s BCE) and the Israelite History (written in the first half of the sixth century BCE). The commentary accompanying the translation focuses on issues of translation, language, and composition history. After the commentary I provide an essay that summarizes my (necessarily speculative) views on the composition history of Judges. In that essay, I assign each of the parashot to one of the six major compositional stages that I identify, which span nearly a millennium, from the eleventh century BCE to the mid-second century BCE. The book includes an appendix that discusses the display of the Song of Deborah in the Masoretic text, and that presents the song in English in the “checkerboard” format used by the Masoretes.
This project work automates web based crime and criminals tracking system. The system is web based application that enable user at the international hotels and at the four police office stations to communicate each other and with district police office. All user of the system are communicating through the internet service provider infrastructure. But if the internet is down, the system will work offline. The system and its database is configured or replicated to the police station’s mini server computers at each woredas. Whenever the network is available the mini servers synchronize data with the central server at the district police office. Before we develop this project the international hotels daily fill form about their customers booked in and send by human labor to the nearby police station. The CCTS alleviates this challenge. Now, using our web system the hotel manager or receptionist access the customer booked in hotel registration page from the server, fills and hit submit button. The information is submitted to the police office through the network and saved to their computer at the same time. While the data is being submitted the data is checked against the criminal’s list using primary key or unique number, if criminal or suspects found alert or report will be displayed to the system administrator with detail information. The prototype has been tested with data from Adama city district police office. It has been observed that the system successfully registers crime and criminals, lost property, international hotels; customer booked in hotel, generates reports and provides search facilities. In addition to these, customers are not expected to go to the four police stations or woredas if they want to register lost property. As lost property, crime and criminals registered at a station it will be shared across the network. It has also been shown that the system facilitates to view the status of cases, knowledge bases. This system promotes the manual works into digital. It reduces the time, produces accurate results and also implements security for the information.

Feasibility of Implementing Chronic Care Model in the Malaysian Public Primary Care Setting2017 •
Non-communicable diseases (NCD) is a global health threat. the Chronic Care Model (CCM) was proven effective in improving NCD management and outcomes in developed countries. Evidence from developing countries including Malaysia is limited and feasibility of CCM implementation has not been assessed. this study intends to assess the feasibility of public primary health care clinics (PHC) in providing care according to the CCM. A cross-sectional survey was conducted to assess the public PHC ability to implement the components of CCM. All public PHC with Family Medicine Specialist in Selangor and Kuala Lumpur were invited to participate. A site feasibility questionnaire was distributed to collect site investigator and clinic information as well as delivery of care for diabetes and hypertension. there were a total of 34 public PHC invited to participate with a response rate of 100%. there were 20 urban and 14 suburban clinics. the average number of patients seen per day ranged between 25...
