A new species of Leptactina (Rubiaceae) with axillary inflorescences, gibbous stipules and fruits ellipsoid from Cenral African Republic, L. deblockiae Neuba & Sonke, is described and illustrated here. Affinities of this new taxon with other species of Leptactina is discussed. A key of Leptactina species with axillary inflorescences is provided. © Publications Scientifiques du Museum national d'Histoire naturelle.

Ehotile Islands National Park emerges from the Aby lagoon, in the South-east of Côte d'Ivoire. It is composed of 6 islands with a total area of 550 ha. The initiative of the erection of this park, single case in Côte d'Ivoire, came from the Ehotile people, eager to preserve their history, their culture and some natural richness. Unfortunately, this Park is in progressive degradation. However; local initiative should have allowed a real co-management, concept which is now considerate as the solution for a sustainable management of the closed areas. The first step of the co-management process consists in identifying the real needs of the local populations, through the study of the traditional uses of their natural resources. Our research, articulated around three axes, aims to bring, through the analysis of the Ehotile people uses of the plants, elements to support a co-management programme of the Ehotile Islands National Park. Concerning the first axis, related to the current state of the floristic diversity of the Park, we inventoried 323 species belonging to 248 genus and to 87 families. S/G index (number of species per genus) and Shannon Index show that this flora is diversified. But, from an island to another, the specific composition differs strongly. However, hierarchical classification allows distinguishing two floristic groups. This flora is also characterized by the presence of many taxa witch present interest for conservation, making of this Park a significant component in the conservation of Ivorian biodiversity. The second axis made it possible to index 172 species traditionally used by Ehotile people in their everyday life. We listed 39 wild food plants and 35 plants employed in the construction of the dwellings, hunting and especially fishing. We found the majority of these plants on the islands, where some perturbations due to illegal taking of useful pants are observed. The African traditional pharmacopoeia represents the most significant category of use. The plants which cure the affections such as malaria; sexual asthenia, dysmenorrhoea are most known. The last axis of our study related to the traditional practices contributing to a sustainable management of the floristic resources. We observe that the practices of domestication are known by Ehotile people, but less exploited. In the other hand, the originality of the Ehotile case resides in its traditional religion. Indeed, the Ehotile religion, through the worship of Nyango and the sacred sites, has a perceptible impact on some species or some forests conservation. Thus, it can constitute a solid base for the natural resources management. With of all these elements, we proposed a management diagram of the Ehotile Islands National Park based on the UNESCO’ Reserves of Biosphere zonation strategy
