Beautiful large blooms flaked with lilac over a cream background. Flowering over a long season they are superb for cutting or trained up trellis, netting or fences.
This fragrant "Spencer" type Sweet Pea is very popular with exhibitors and flower arrangers.
Reaches 6 1/2 feet tall, it’s later blooming, June-August, and is particularly suited to cooler summers such as coastal areas.
Bicolor varietie are truly unique in color and make superb climbing plants for trellises, fences, netting, and other vertical surfaces.
Sow 1 - 2 seeds per plant and space 5 - 6 inches apart. For best germination, Sweet Pea seeds need to be scarified before sowing. Nicking the seed with a nail clipper breaks the outer coat so they can absorb water immediately. By doing this a larger percentage of the seeds will germinate and they will sprout a few days earlier.

Bicolor Sweet Pea (Lathyrus Odoratus Bicolor Lilac Ripple)

These Bicolor Sweet Peas have beautiful large blooms that are flaked with lilac over a cream background. This fragrant "Spencer" type Sweet Pea is very popular with exhibitors and flower arrangers. It often reaches 6 1/2 feet tall, and is a later bloomer, normally in June-August. It is particularly well suited to cooler summers such as coastal areas.

The Sweet Pea is attractive to pollinators as well! Both bees and butterflies will visit the lovely scented blooms.

For best germination, Sweet Pea seeds need to be scarified before sowing. Nicking the seed with a nail clipper breaks the outer coat so they can absorb water immediately. By doing this a larger percentage of the seeds will germinate and they will sprout a few days earlier. After nicking the seed, soak the Sweet Peas seeds over night in tepid water. Do this the night before sowing the flower seeds directly outside.

How to Grow

Sow your Sweet Pea in full sun or slight shade. It is best to grow them in medium-moisture and well-drained soil.

Caring for your Sweet Pea includes: deadheading flowers as this will encourage new growth. You can also cut flower regularly as this will help the plant to produce more stems for bloom.

Plant Spacing: 2 - 3 inches for seed spacing, then thin plants later to 5 - 6 inches.
