Handroanthus Chrysanthus: Golden Wind-bell Waking Up the Spring

When you walk in Chengdu in spring, you may catch sight of the trees with bright yellow “wind-bell” hanging on them. These bright and attractive flowers are called Handroanthus Chrysanthus.

The trees with yellow flowers were originated in Central America and South America, and were imported into China later. They have straight and rough trunks and smooth branches.

Handroanthus Chrysanthussignal the spring. When they bloom, the golden flowers look like wind-bells hanging on the branches. After the blossom, they start to grow leaves which are green and uneven.
