Mimulus aurantiacus

Mimulus aurantiacus, or Sticky Monkey Flower, is a perennial plant that has orange flowers and deep green sticky leaves that has earned itself the common name Sticky Monkey Flower. The draught tolerant herb can be found all throughout California, from south Oregon to Baja, Mexico. The monkey flower is noteworthy for it’s ability to grow in serpentine soil, a soil that most plants find unsuitable. The plant can reach 1.5 meters in both width and height with five broad lobbed flowers reaching about 2cm in length. A number of bees and humming birds can be seen visiting these beautiful flowers in the spring months.
