Shoo Fly Plant / Nicandra physalodes is a very hardy organic bug control. Most bugs , including mosquitoes, want nothing to do with the plant. As it will grow in a wide variety of soils it makes an ideal companion plant to plants which may be more susceptible to bug damage.

It will grow in most climates in North America. It prefers warmer temperatures but I found it will grow outside in my Anchorage yard. In my greenhouse it got over six feet tall. I had to cut the tops after that as it was reaching the roof.
