During the growing season, high-phosphorous, low nitrogen fertilizers can be applied at half-strength once a month.

This plant is a member of the Stapeliad family and native of the deserts of Africa. The plant may have a spiky appearance, but it has no thorns and are soft succulents.

These grow well under most light conditions and blooms throughout spring and summer.
They are cold hardy to 30 F and need porous soil.
