Seeds of Ipomoea murucoides Mitla Tree Morning Glory. A member of the same genus as the morning glory vines and the sweet potato, this species grows into an attractive, soft and succulent-stemmed, dry deciduous, small tree to 25' tall in full sun with pale bark and fragrant, attractive white flowers with a dark red throat that appear during the dry season when the tree is mostly leafless. It is native to seasonally dry scrublands, thickets and thorn forest in southern Mexico and Guatemala. Ipomoea murucoides are known colloquially by many different names, including morning glory, water convolvulus or kangkung, sweet potato, bindweed, or moonflower. The flowers apparently remain open all day long and, once open, probably do not close until they wither. Morning glory is a name used for many kinds of climbing vines, and it can be hard to tell them apart. They generally produce large, bright flowers, and have been cultivated in many different ways as an ornamental plant.Cancellations:
