CONSERVATION STATUS:
- Endangered.
CULTIVATION:
- Semi shade to full sun.
- Regular watering with good drainage.
- Can sustain light frost.
PROPAGATION:
- Grows fairly rapidly.
- Readily propagated from seed and suckers.
NATURAL HABITAT:
- KwaZulu Natal Province from the area around the Jozini dam into Swaziland to the Siteki area.
- They grow on gentle slopes between rocks and on cliff faces.
STEM:
- Erect, aerial stem that sometimes become reclining when long.
- Stem can attain a length of up to 4 meters with a diameter of 25 cm to 40 cm.
LEAVES:
- Leaves are dark green on the upper side and lighter green on the lower side.
- The leaves are stiff and 1 meter to 1.8 meters long.
- Rachis is yellowish and leaflets shield one another more so to the leaf apex.
- Both leaflet margins have teeth.
- Leaflets are concave transversely on the upper side.
