Molucella laevis often known as Bells of Ireland is an erect and branching annual.
The flowers are born in whorls from the leaf axials towards the tip of the stem. They appear to be pale green and funnel shaped, however these are not the flowers but the calyx. The flowers inside the calyx funnel and are small, pink or white, two lipped and hooded.
These are easy to grow from seed. In frost prone zones it is better to sow seeds under glass or wait until late spring
Attractive a part of mixed border. They make great cut flowers and can be dried effectively.
