Tristaniopsis laurina is a very hardy, evergreen, conical, small tree with brown bark that peels to grey.
The oblong to lance-shaped foliage starts plum-coloured and becomes green with paler undersides.
It produces clusters of small, orange/yellow, fragrant flowers in summer which are rich in nectar and attract birds and insects accordingly.
It is relatively fast growing in rich well drained soil but grows more slowly in drier conditions especially when planted as street trees surrounded by pavement. It very tidy, long lived and quite suited to small gardens.
