Description 2

Perennial herb with a weakly developed rootstock. Stems prostrate or ascending to erect in the apical part, up to 65 cm long, angled, mostly hairless or sparsely hairy on the edges. Leaves opposite, ovate to elliptic, up to c. 8 × 2.5 cm, mostly hairless or finely velvety on the midrib above; margin entire or minutely ciliate. Flowers in 1-12-flowered axillary clusters. Corolla small, white to pale mauve or purple, usually with darker spots in the throat. Capsule 7-10 mm long.

"Perrennial trailing plants with many divaricate, sub quadrangular branches, often prostrate and rooting at nodes. Leaves opposite, 2-3 x 1-2.5 cm, broadly elliptic or obovate, obtuse, base narrowed, glabrous or pubescent; petiole 0.5-1 cm long. Flowers solitary or in cluster up to 4, axillary, susessile; bracts 0; bracteoles 2 mm long, narrowly linear. Calyx 5 mm long, divided about 2/3 towards base, lobes subulate. Corolla violet-pink as long as the calyx, lobes oblong, rounded, spreading. Stamens didynamous, one short and one long filaments united at base; anther cells spurred at base. Capsules 7 mm long; seeds 5, broadly elliptic, densely hairy with white hairs when wet."
