Scrambling shrub or canopy climber. Leaves simple, usually reniform, 3-veined from the base, margins lobed with shallow serrations, dark green above, rusty-velvety beneath. Flowers in dense reddish brown-hairy cymes, greenish. Fruits large, to 20 mm in diameter, red to dark purple.

Cape Plants makes no mention of the aerial roots which are a feature of this canopy climber. This puts some doubt in my mind.
