A post the other day said they thought that Oropetium capense was the smallest grass, which in some ways it might be, but Dregeochloa pumila is considered the smallest in stature and is also considered the only succulent grass species as the short leaves swell with water which it gets from fog condensation. It occurs from near Alexander Bay to Luderitz along the coastal strip. Inflorescence aside, it is probably never much taller than 1-2cm.
