Bird's tongue

Ornithoglossum vulgare

Ornithoglossum vulgare grows from 7 to 70 cm and is found on stony slopes from Western Africa to tropical Africa. It is the most wide spread species and has been implicated in stock losses because of its toxic properties.
Some kind of Lily I was very fortunate to find this flower right outside our house. I have only seen one of them before on our property. They only last a few days and somehow avoided being squashed and eaten by the horses and other animals Bird's tongue,Geotagged,Ornithoglossum vulgare,South Africa, bulb, lily, wild flower
