False Blue Indigo or Wild Blue Indigo (Baptisia australis) is a showy member of the pea family that blooms spikes of rich blue-lavender flowers in Spring. As such it is an important early food source for native bees. 

A mounding perennial with green-blue leaves, the beauty of Baptisia australis extends into the Winter as its flowers become dried seed pods.
