Yesterday, I had the honour of joining Bloomberg Women’s Buy-Side Network (BWBN) of Canada as a senior leader mentor at their speed networking event. I was one of 16 mentors working with approximately 80 mentees at the event. It was great to connect with so many women beginning their career. I had the opportunity to share my experience as a woman in the financial industry, as well as the challenges and opportunities that helped me grow, build resiliency, and make an impact.
Ahead of International Women’s Day, this event was a reminder that we need to continue to challenge the status quo and #InspireInclusion to create a more diverse and equitable financial industry. Historically, women’s financial needs have been underserved, putting a spotlight on the importance of reducing the gender gap across the wealth industry. With women set to double their assets by 2028, we need more women advisors and asset managers who understand women’s holistic needs. They can help change the experience and generate lifetime financial security and build capital for generations to come.
I am proud to be part of an organization that is dedicated to attracting and retaining more women across the wealth management industry. At Sun Life Global Investments, we are investing in the next generation of advisors and asset managers through mentorship and training opportunities, such as our partnership with the Women in Asset Management (WAM) internship program with the Ivey Business School at Western University, where we help support the advancement of young women’s careers in the industry.
I’m proud to see that we are making progress to move the needle and achieve gender parity. I will continue to pay it forward to build a stronger, more equitable financial future for generations to come.
