Indigenous watsonias are an excellent choice for the back of a border where their eye-catching trumpet-shaped blooms are carried on long stems above sword-shaped leaves. These easy-to-grow bulbous plants bear striking spikes of blooms mostly in spring and early summer. The little individual flowers on each stem open one by one from the bottom up, so the plant puts on a lovely display for a long period of time.
