Grows best in dry to moist well-drained soil in full sun to partial shade. Drought tolerant once established, especially when shade from hot afternoon sun is provided. Susceptible to leaf dieback in hot humid summers; remove these infected leaves as needed. Flowers form in early summer and often hinder the overall appearance. If preferred, prune back as the flowers develop to maintain a compact, tidy habit. Can self-seed profusely.
Leaf shape and texture are reminiscent of a "lamb's ear", hence the common name.
