A small, lily-like plant to about 1 m tall, native to New Guinea and Australia from Queensland to Tasmania, that produces clusters of bright green, flax-like leaves and tall panicles with bright blue flowers, followed by attractive, dark blue fruits. Dianella caerulea makes a great, low maintenance ground cover for the temperate garden. It is a robust and quite cold tolerant plant.
