Bauhinia monandra, Pink Orchid Tree

$4.99
Orchid Trees are always breathtaking, and this pink dwarf may be the most gorgeous of all. It's covered with 5" blooms most of the year, is rarely seen without flowers except in winter. It can be grown indoors in a bright window and makes a spectacular bonsai.

This dwarf species grows to 10' or 15' tall. It thrives in full sun or light shade anywhere in zones 9-11, tolerates meager soil, inconsistent water. It looks like a fussy princess, but doesn't need to be pampered. In cool zones, it does fine in a container in a sunny window, and can be pruned to any size you like.

Bauhinia monandra grows quickly and will bloom in 3 to 4 years. Nick and soak the seeds, then plant in good soil and keep them warm. They're easy.

5 seeds.

Bauhinia needs to be scarified and soaked in warm water for 24 hours prior to sowing. Sow the seeds 1 inch deep in a well draining sandy potting soil and place in a warm/sunny location. Keep soil moist, but not soaking wet during germination. Cover with plastic wrap or zipper bag to keep in heat and moisture. Remove pastic wrap when you have seedlings.
