Pink Indigo Bush, Santa Catalina Prairie Clover, Indigo Bush
Dalea pulchra

An upright shrub with an open rounded form, covered in delicate, fuzzy, fern-like, silver to gray-green foliage. In late winter through spring, fuzzy terminal flower spikes hold small pea-like flowers in shades of purple-pink and white. Attracts bees and butterflies. Thrives in full sun; will accept some shade but does not flower as profusely. Overwatering will cause this plant to be short-lived or, in worse cases, rot it at the roots. Daleas create their own fertilizer, so do not fertilize. Older plants will become woody and will need to be cut back to allow for fresh growth, preferably in late fall or winter. Good in informal borders or hedges, as a screen or background plant. Can work as an accent to larger plants.
