CloseKitten Ears, Pussy Ears, or Furry Kittens are all common names used to describe this member of the Tradescantia family. The leaves and stems are indeed furry, and are sturdier than some of its Tradescantia cousins, growing into a slight mound then trailing up to 18 inches. While it can be used in summer shade baskets as a trailer, 'Kitten Ears' may be put to better use in indoor planters for year-round interest. It might be fun to pair this variety with others such as 'Zebrina' or 'Nanouk,' combining texture and color all in one pot. They all prefer a well-lit room; if it's too dark, the plants will let you know, getting leggy or losing color. If stems break off, simply poke a hole in the soil and pop the stem back in. Better to keep these on the drier side rather than too wet, and keep all Tradescantias out of the reach of curious pets.
