A tidy indoor fern with round-leafed, gently arching fronds. The leaves gradually become darker green as the plant matures.

CloseMany gardeners may assume that because it is a fern, the Button Fern likes moisture and higher humidity, but just as its fronds are unique, so are its ideal growing conditions. This gracefully arching, petite fern prefers to have dry surface soil between waterings, and doesn't like to be misted very often, as the maidenhair ferns do. It's roots are fairly shallow, so it adapts well to container planters, by itself or with other houseplants. Place at the side of a container so it can drape gracefully over the edge. Like other ferns, the Button Fern is non-toxic to pets, but teeth marks would definitely spoil this tidy plant's good looks!
