Magnolia soulangeana is the most popular and most common of the Magnolias and has wonderful, large, white flowers, flushed with pink at the base of the petals. The flowers are highly scented so are a real treat in the spring. These make a large, rounded shrub/small tree.Magnolias are best planted in a south-westerly position or at least protection from the North and East, so to reduce the risk of the weather damaging the buds in spring.
