Family Liliaceae

Description:

Approximately one hundred Lilium species are found around the world, mostly in the northern hemisphere. The Formosa lily is one of the best of the true lilies for warm climates. It grows to three or four feet tall, topped by several large, trumpet shaped white flowers in late summer. It dies down each winter and resprouts early the following spring. Formosa lily seedlings volunteer readily. If the seedlings are undesirable, seed capsules must be removed before they turn brown and split open to release the seeds.
