Cornaceae

Cornus kousa var. chinensis Cornus kousa var. chinensis

Starts as a shrub and grows into a multiple-stemmed tree. Grows more rapidly and attains more height than of the species and therefore becomes a tree sooner. The width will be circa 6 - 8 m. The leaf is dark green and slightly curved. The underside is blue green. The autumn colouring has yellow and scarlet red hues. The flowers are inconspicuous. However, each head with flowers has 4 bracts that are bright white and circa 10 cm large. At the base they overlap and they are larger than of the species. The red, strawberry-like fruits are also bigger, circa 2.5 cm. They have 5 cm long, red stalks. The plant is shallow rooting with a fibrous root system. Requires a rich soil with a high humus content. Tolerates more drought than C. florida and is to be recommended above the species C. kousa.
Our trees can only be planted when they don't have any leaves. Due to the this we will start delivering again from noiembrie 2024.
