Description
Common Mediterranean grass, with upright smooth stems of different lengths. The grass turns quickly from green to a reddish-gold colour.
It can grow in a variety of habitats, in dry conditions, on heavy, rocky eroded soils.
Flowers
The flowers are bright yellow, profuse in spring.
Leaves
Linear narrow blade leaf, like grass. Tufted, blade, pointed, 1-3 mm wide.
Fruits Seeds
Caryopsis: a dry fruit (grain).
