• Conservation statusVulnerable in Victoria to continued depletion. Scattered occurrences but may be locally common. Very rare in the Dandenong Ranges.
• Related speciesCyathea x marcescens is a naturally occurring sterile hybrid between Cyathea australis and Cyathea cunninghamii. Occurs in common with C. cunninghamii.
